Black Out

No offense Netflix fans, but orange is definitely not the new black (it's more of a background color as you can see =p). Black will always reign supreme when it comes to fashion, and I've blended all black everything with the trend that can't stop won't stop -- high waisted shorts paired with a crop top. Generally, the style screams summer, but when you live in San Diego/Southern California in general, the best way to transition the look to fall is to get your crop top in a sweater material with a mock neck. It's literally that easy (sorry East Coasters).

A friend recently described to me that her main issue with crop tops is that they tend to make her silhouette boxy, every woman's nightmare. Despite my love for them, I completely agree that the wrong crop top can transform your body shape in to that of C-3PO, again every woman's nightmare.

Here is a quick guide for finding the right one for your shape:

  1. If you're tall - bustier or large print
  2. If you're petite - fitted crop top & all over print
  3. If you're curvy - structured pieces that graze the body
  4. If you're athletic - midriff baring top with a fuller bottom

Of course not everyone fits in to such defined categories (I know I don't!) so I love this expanded guide from WhoWhatWear!
