Seaside Vintage

"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever." - Jacques Yves Cousteau

Maybe it's the fact that I grew up only 20 minutes from the beach or maybe its my love affair with water since childhood, either way I've always been drawn to the ocean.

A constant churning behemoth of unpredictable power, both alluring and frightening simultaneously. The sound of every crashing wave, always draws me ever deeper into its shimmering turquoise enchantment.

Luckily for me, mermaids don't exist because I'd never be able to resist their siren song and the ocean. I'd be toast!

Seaside Beach in Monterey is transportive. Honestly, you don't feel like you're in California anymore, at least the California I'm accustomed to. White sand and crystal clear water was seen for miles with barely a person in sight. An utterly perfect spot for a seaside picnic and girl talk.

I may or may not have planned to wear a picnic inspired shirt (a blogger never reveals her secrets 🀐 πŸ˜† ). Either way its vintage vibes created an atmosphere of something akin to dining beachside in the south of France.

A little styling trick went into making this shirt look a bit more pulled together than if I simply put it on and buttoning it up. This shirt from La Loupe Vintage (my fav shop in San Diego) is a number of sizes too big, however I loved the bagginess of the silhouette, and the bright green color screamed "buy me for summer!"

When clothes speak audibly, you listen.

The 10 second styling trick? Depending on the shirt, button the buttons until they reach the top of your bottoms, then take each end of the shirt and tie into a knot. If the shirt is particularly long you may have to roll the back up. And boom! A vintage shirt brought into modern times, while still maintaining its essence.

If you follow me on Instagram (@faith_instyle), you'll know that I was in New York last weekend for New York Fashion Week!! I've got some awesome posts in store for you guys from the five days I was there seeing shows, meeting with fellow bloggers, and wearing some fun looks. Stay tuned for those coming in the next few weeks!

Also, today I'm jetting off to a tropical location. Check in on my Instagram or Snapchat to find out where exactly! To say the least, it will be an adventure.
